The ICPO Foundation’s three-level accreditation system for theranostics centers is designed to raise global standards, ensure inclusivity, and support centers in delivering high-quality patient care in theranostics.

An Inclusive Global Framework

ICPO offers a structured accreditation pathway that recognizes centers' current achievements as well as providing a clear roadmap towards future development. Whether a center is newly established or already a global leader, this framework ensures adequate support at every stage, enhancing growth and strengthening expertise in theranostics.

Mutual Recognition and Global Alignment

To ensure the highest standards, ICPO will actively seek mutual recognition agreements with leading societies and associations involved in theranostic center accreditation, such as EANM, IAEA, SNMMI, and ENETS. This will further streamline processes, enable knowledge sharing, and harmonize international efforts in the advancement of theranostics care.

The goal is to develop standards that are adaptable to local regulations, credentialing systems and available resources while setting up an international framework for education, protocol development and collaboration.

Three Levels of Accreditation

Level 1: ICPO Clinical Theranostics Center

Centers are accredited at this level based on a documentary review and MoU Signature, confirming their commitment to showing foundational infrastructure, implementing patient care protocols, and following quality and safety standards. This level recognizes centers in the early stages of developing theranostics services, helping them build expertise and scale patient access. Candidates can apply for accreditation through an open application process via a web form.

Level 2: ICPO Comprehensive Theranostics Center

Accreditation at this level requires a live virtual review, including a site tour, ensuring that centers have advanced capabilities in infrastructure, staff training, and patient care. At this stage, centers are actively engaged in educational initiatives, take part in research, and handle higher patient volumes, positioning themselves as regional leaders in theranostics.

Level 3: ICPO Reference Theranostics Center

Level 3 accreditation is the highest standard in theranostics, granted after a comprehensive audit by qualified experts. This top-tier is reserved for leading institutions that are pioneers in advanced technologies, drive innovative research, and engage in international collaborations. The criteria for Level 3 will be developed in close consultation with key international societies, and the accreditation will be through mutual recognition and alignment with established protocols from these reputable bodies. Centers at this level gain increased visibility through ICPO Community, reinforcing their role in the precision oncology landscape and allowing them to shape the future of theranostics through mentorship and leadership.

ICPO provides guidance, education, and collaboration opportunities to help centers excel at every stage of accreditation.

Through ICPO Academy for Theranostics, centers gain access to cutting-edge training, including a "train the trainer" model that ensures knowledge is shared and carried on effectively. Additionally, through ICPO Research Support, centers receive the tools, funding, and expertise necessary for conducting independent clinical trials and innovation in theranostics.

The ICPO Community connects centers with an international community of peers and experts to increase their visibility and create opportunities for valuable partnerships. It offers centers an opportunity to shine on the world stage, create meaningful collaborations, and give them a place in the larger Precision Oncology network.

At this foundational level, centers gain preferred access to the latest updates, resources, and invitations within the ICPO network, keeping them at the forefront of advancements in theranostics. They also receive structured support to prepare for Level 2 accreditation, ensuring a clear and achievable path for their growth and development.

Level 2: ICPO Comprehensive Theranostics enter

Centers at this level have the opportunity to learn from pioneers and experts in the field, refining their skills through advanced education and collaborative initiatives. With targeted support, they will further enhance their expertise and infrastructure, preparing them for the highest level of accreditation.

Level 3: ICPO Reference Theranostics Center

At the top level of accreditation, centers benefit from strategic guidance to help grow their theranostic initiatives into a more sustainable and leadership proposition. In addition, they receive research support, including funding opportunities and expert mentorship, to design and conduct independent clinical trials. Additionally, these centers are encouraged to mentor rising institutions, building the future of theranostics as well as strengthening their position within the global community.
